What is a Love After Marriage Workshop?

The Eighteen Week Workshop, Phase I

Love After Marriage was originally created as an eighteen week, 36 hour program. Throughout the workshop we model and emphasize truthfulness, vulnerability and intimacy in every area of our marriage. As a workshop, Love After Marriage, (LAM) provides a comprehensive experience including:

• Teaching emphasizing spiritual, emotional and sexual oneness
• Intimate discussion between couples
• Valuable interaction within a “chosen” small group
• Opportunities to learn and practice tools that not only bring breakthrough but also a lifestyle change
• Sprit directed prayer and prophetic ministry within the small groups and between couples that facilitates advancement growth for many
• Couples who volunteer for “Couples Coaching” in front of the class choose to allow the leaders and Holy Spirit to coach them in some of their most personal needs and greatest strongholds. We have observed that many of the couples in the room will benefit and often receive the same breakthroughs as the couple volunteering.
• Homework activities and devotionals establish healthy and intimate relational habits within the home

These workshops take place twice each year at Bethel Church in Redding. One workshop runs from January through May. The second runs from August through mid December. There is a ten week follow-up phase for every eighteen week workshop. Many who have embraced this process have discovered greater levels of intimacy, passion, purpose and oneness.


Love After Marriage Phase II

LAM 2 is the second phase of the Love After Marriage Workshop. Its duration is twelve weeks and usually resumes following a short break after the first eighteen week course.

The components that make up LAM 2 are:

• New DVD teachings with Barry & Lori and various special guests
• Extended time and activities for people to go deeper in their small groups
• Opportunity to practice and become more skilled with the tools learned in LAM
• New homework and devotionals
• Introduction to Dream Vesting – putting feet to your dreams
• Learning to strengthen, bless and legitimize your spirit with some amazing teaching and tools by Arthur Burk

Overall LAM 2 brings in some new information and some new tools but also provides an opportunity to deepen and strengthen what you’ve gained in LAM


The Five Day Workshop

The five day workshop was developed to provide an opportunity for those outside of Bethel Church to experience the entire eighteen session workshop in just one week. It is also an option for those inside of Bethel Church who cannot attend the full eighteen week workshop. This intensive workshop covers all of the lessons, activities, couples coaching and ministry opportunities as the eighteen week but there is not time to do the homework. So couples attending the five day must commit to doing their homework on their own after the workshop ends in order to receive the maximum benefit.

Note: We require couples who want to be certified to conduct a Love After Marriage Workshop for their own church to attend either the full eighteen week workshop or the five day workshop.  There are other requirements for certification which include demonstrated gifting, maturity and approval from your pastoral leadership.


The Three Day Workshop

Some churches have asked us to do a workshop but cannot accommodate a five day workshop. In response we have developed a three day workshop that covers approximately 60 percent of the material covered in the full eighteen lessons.


Weekend Workshops

Weekend workshops usually begin Friday evening and continue until Saturday evening or Sunday morning. In the weekend workshops we are able to give a small sample of workshop content even though we still include most of the elements of the full workshop. When covering just one lesson from each of the spiritual, emotional and sexual areas, we  still have seen wonderful miracles, breakthroughs and lifestyle changes for couples with significant marital issues as well those desiring to make a good marriage better. Many people who attend the weekend workshops are so touched that they want to attend the complete workshop.
